COLUMBUS, Ind. (June 16, 2017) – Tanner Thorson is set to compete June 17 and 18 at Eldora Speedway and Waynesfield Raceway Park, respectively, in the Pete Grove-owned No. 70 sprint car during the 35th Annual Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Cometic Gasket.
Saturday will mark Thorson’s first Ohio Sprint Speedweek appearance with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions (ASCoC), as well as his debut in the No. 70 machine.
“I’m very excited for the opportunity and I cannot thank Pete Grove enough. It’s been a while since I’ve raced a sprint car in Ohio, so I’m pretty excited. Ohio Speedweek always brings great competition, so I’m ready to get to work,” Thorson stated.
Thorson’s best ASCoC finish is a third place at Millstream Speedway in Findlay, Ohio behind Dale Blaney and Cody Darrah back in 2015.
Thorson’s last sprint car start at Rossburg, Ohio’s Eldora Speedway also took place in 2015, but he is no stranger to the podium at the famed half-mile dirt track. Just last year, Thorson finished second in his Keith Kunz Motorsports/Toyota-powered midget behind teammate Rico Abreu during the Four Crown Nationals. He is now more anxious than ever to get behind the wheel of a sprint car at the ‘Big E’ again.
“I love going to Eldora. The couple sprint car starts I had there were awesome. I remember the heat races being exciting and I made the show, which was pretty cool. I’m proud of Tony [Stewart] and everything he’s done with that track. I can’t wait to get there. It’s a fun place to race,” Thorson added.
Thorson is also eager to get back to Waynesfield Raceway Park, as his only start at the Waynesfield, Ohio track was in 2015.
“I’ve only been to Waynesfield once and I really enjoyed the track. It will be great to race there again. I really can’t thank Pete Grove enough for letting me do this,” Thorson concluded.
Events during the 35th Annual Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Cometic Gasket will be broadcast live on www.eldoraspeedway.com or www.thecushion.com.
Additional sprint car events for Tanner Thorson will be announced upon finalization.
