COLUMBUS, Ind. (April 20, 2017) – Tanner Thorson is set to pilot the Netto Ag/Penny Newman Grain No. 88 sprint car on Apr. 22 for the fourth annual Peter Murphy Classic at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, California.
The No. 88 team will compete with the King of the West-NARC Fujitsu Racing Series on Saturday to close out the two-day race weekend. Based out of Hanford, California, the Netto Ag sponsor is no stranger to West Coast racing as they have made multiple trips to victory lane with driver DJ Netto, who will be Thorson’s teammate for this weekend’s event.
Lee Lindgren, crew chief of the Netto Ag program, has worked with Thorson at major sprint car events such as the World of Outlaws World Finals, Winter Heat Showdown, Mini Gold Cup and multiple World of Outlaw races in California.
“I’m looking forward to adding Tanner to the Netto Ag team this weekend. I’m looking for a one-two finish with my drivers,” Lindgren stated.
Thorson is eager to strap in, as his last sprint car start was in October of 2016.
“I’m really excited to get back to California. I can’t thank Frank, James and DJ [Netto] enough for giving me the opportunity. I’m also looking forward to working with Lee [Lindgren] again. We always ran well in the past, so I hope we can get the result that I know we’re capable of,” Thorson stated.
