COLUMBUS, Ind. (Oct. 16, 2017) – Tanner Thorson is slated to drive the Netto Ag/Penny Newman Grain No. 88n for the prestigious “24th Annual Trophy Cup” at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, California Oct. 19-21.
“I can’t thank James, Frank and DJ Netto enough for this opportunity. It’s such a big event and the competition is always tough. I’m really grateful they picked me to race their car,” Thorson stated.
The three-day race weekend is known for drawing in the west coast’s top talent and delivering some of the best 360 winged sprint car racing. It’s all set to kick off Thursday with a points-based system that leads up to Saturday’s main event. An overall points champion will be awarded a bonus check at the conclusion of the weekend, making each night’s finish crucial. Locking into Saturday’s feature alone guarantees each starting team $2,000. Thorson, who worked with the Netto Ag racing program back in April for his first start in the No. 88n, feels confident going into the weekend.
“I felt really good the last time I was in the car, which was at Tulare (Thunderbowl Raceway), so I’m hoping we can build off of that and have a good chance at getting a win. I grew up going to this race and watching some of my favorite drivers, like Tyler Walker and Tim Kaeding, so it’s really cool to be able to get my first start at such a neat event,” Thorson added.
Thorson’s results will be published each night on Twitter (@TThorsonRacing) and Facebook (@TannerThorsonRacing), as well as on TannerThorson.com. All additional information regarding the “24th Annual Trophy Cup” can be found at TrophyCup.org.
